Doug uses multiple mediums to create his work including oil paint, graphite, charcoal, oil stick, cold wax and conte crayon on canvas, wood panel and paper. His approach to painting tends to embrace a softer color palette, with a strong sense of atmospheric perspective and diffused lighting, creating a calming, serene mood.
Doug’s work embraces several styles and genres of painting including representational, impressionism and an almost “cubist” approach which integrates foreground with background.
Paintings are on a traditional canvas measuring 7/8” deep unless noted by “Wood panel” or “Gallery canvas” which are typically 1.5 inches deep. Although Gallery style canvas and wood panels can be framed, they do not require framing for display and can be hung directly on the wall.
